Why are dental check ups important?

As prevention is always better than cure, it is essential for us to examine your teeth and gums at least twice a year. Regular appointments allow us to spot potential problems before they have a chance to worsen and result in more costly and involved treatment in the future.

During your check up visit, we can also assess your oral hygiene routine at home. We provide guidance on the best teeth cleaning methods, ensuring you are doing everything possible to protect your smile from future issues.

What does a check up involve?

When you arrive for your appointment, we warmly welcome you and ask if you have experienced any problems since your last visit or have any concerns you wish to share with us. We also make sure you are feeling fit and well.

We thoroughly examine your teeth, gums and mouth, looking for signs of decay, infection, gum disease and bite problems. We also carry out a screen for oral cancer, checking your soft tissues, neck and tongue.

If we identify anything that needs further treatment, we explain your options and the costs involved.

To finish your check up, we give you some personalised advice on the best ways to keep your teeth in excellent condition at home, including brushing techniques and diet tips.
