Why have a
dental crown?

Dental crowns are a natural-looking restorative solution, used to repair damage that has affected a tooth’s structure and overall function. They fit over the entire outer surface of a tooth, providing a complete rebuild that blends beautifully with the existing natural teeth in your smile.

Crowns are an ideal choice for teeth with multiple fillings, extensive decay, or general wear and tear that needs a more thorough repair. We can also use crowns to provide an aesthetic and reliable finish following root canal treatment.

What is involved in the treatment?

We first ensure that the internal structure of the tooth is intact and that there are no signs of infection present. We then carefully prepare your tooth so as to leave a strong core which is the perfect shape for a crown.

Next, we take a comfortable intra-oral scan of your teeth and record their colour so your crown can be made to fit perfectly. Between appointments, we protect the prepared tooth with a temporary crown.

When your crown is ready, the temporary crown is removed and the new permanent one is fixed in place with a strong dental cement.
