Why have dentures?

If you’re missing a single tooth, multiple teeth, or even a whole arch, dentures provide a stable, aesthetic and highly effective option. They are usually made from high-quality acrylic to ensure a natural look, or a blend of acrylic and metal for additional strength. Partial dentures blend seamlessly into your smile, while a full set is designed to look remarkably lifelike.

Replacing a full set of teeth with complete dentures provides vital support to your facial structure, keeping it from prematurely sagging around your cheeks and jaw. Similarly, partial dentures help keep your remaining natural teeth firmly in place, ensuring they don’t shift out of alignment and cause further bite issues.

What does the denture treatment process involve?

The denture treatment process can be quite involved, so you may need to attend several appointments to ensure your final set of dentures is completely comfortable and secure. We explain the process to you at your first consultation, check your ideal results and answer any of your questions.

We take digital scans and images of your mouth, which are used to create a model denture. This is checked for fit, bite and comfort, and adjusted until we are both happy with the look and feel of the model.

Your final set of dentures is created using the bespoke model. When it is ready, we see you for your fitting appointment. Complete dentures fit in the top or bottom of your mouth in the same way as a gumshield, while partial dentures use metal hooks attached to your existing teeth. We give you some tips for getting used to your dentures and let you know to contact us if you need help.
